FWF-Project P21772-N22
2009-2012
Full title of project:
Global in situ upper air data for climate change research
Main aim of this project was to extend and improve the homogeneity adjustments of the global radiosonde wind and temperature dataset developed at Univ. Vienna. In particular uncertainty estimation has been improved and new reference data other than those from ECMWF have been tried. Successes of the project were not only the many publications as listed below but also the inclusion of RAOBCORE homogeneity adjustments in many leading reanalysis datasets such as ERA-Interim, the Modern Era Retrospective Aanalysis for Research and Applications, and JRA-55. Progress of the project was also instrumental in getting involved in the EU collaborative project ERA-CLIM
