Seven Conference Contributions and Best Student Poster Presentation Award at the AMS Mountain Meteorology Conference

From August 20-24, the 15th Conference on Mountain Meteorology of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) took place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado (USA). Four members of the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics attended.

Vanda Grubišić, Reinhold Steinacker, Stefano Serafin und Lukas Strauss presented highlights of their current research in seven oral and poster contributions. It is noteworthy that Austria was the European country with the most conference participants, sending a total of seven participants from Vienna and Innsbruck to the conference.
Lukas Strauss, PhD student in the group of Theoretical Meteorology, won the Best Student Poster Presentation Award. He received an AMS certificate plus a $200 cash prize for his contribution "Measuring turbulence from airborne in situ and radar data recorded during an event of wave-induced boundary-layer separation".
