AdriaArray Austria

The AdriaArray is a multinational European project, following the successful AlpArray project. The AdriaArray will cover the region on and around the Adriatic plate in south-eastern Europe, reaching from the Alpes to Poland, Ukraine, Italy and Greece. The project will study fundamental questions related to plate geodynamics and deformation. Its central piece is a seismological network across the region, with many hundreds of permanent and temporary stations.

Altogether, more than 50 institutions are participating in the AdriaArray experiment.

The University of Vienna contributes around 30 broadband stations to the project, covering Eastern Austria and Western Slovakia. We will focus on underground structure and deformation of the northern part of the study region, seismicity, tectonic stress, and underground water resources in the region.
