This dataset is fundamental for climate change research back to the 1940s and it is an important input quantity for the development of global gridded climate datasets (reanalyses) of the atmosphere. In its raw form this dataset contains thousands of inhomogeneities, i.e. breaks in the time series due to changes in instrumentation. These breaks habe been removed using the homogenization method RAOBCORE/RICH (version 1.5). The adjusted datasets are also available online.
