Following the musical opening performed by the Slovak duo Lucia Dundekova-Saray und Katarine Turnerova, Vice-Rector of the University of Vienna, Prof. Dr. Heinz Faßmann recalled the joint planning efforts. Afterwards, Vice-Rector of the Comenius University Bratislava, Prof. Dr. Peter Moczo, took the audience back ten years, when he told of his personal memories how the idea of a joint Masters program was initated. Both Prof. Dr. Götz Bokelmann, head of the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics at the University of Vienna, and Prof. Dr. Daniela Ostatníková, Vice-Rector of the Comenius University Bratislava, expressed their deepest gratitude to everyone involved in the realization Master program and pointed out the unique chances and opportunities of a jointly hosted study program.

The not merely geographically close relation between the two capitals Bratislava and Vienna allow for a transnational study experience which is unique in Europe.
