New EU-Project ERA-CLIM2 has started

03.04.2014

A global earth system reanalysis of the 20th century

The department of Meteorology and Geophysics is one of 16 partners in the EU collaborative project ERA-CLIM2. Like its predecessor, it deals with collecting and digitizing historical surface and upper air data of the 20th century. Its main and ambitious aim is, however, to prepare a global coupled oceanic and atmospheric three dimensional analysis of the 20th century with 6-hourly temporal resolution, including the carbon cycle. This so-called reanalysis will serve as reference for coupled simulations of the present climate but also as important input for a large number of interdisciplinary studies that need weather related information.

The project will run until December 2016 and a new Post-Doc (Michael Blaschek) could be hired.

Please ask Prof. Leopold Haimberger for further details.
