We sincerely congratulate our colleague Seyed Omid Nabavi to the successful defense of his thesis "Chraracterization of Dust Storms in West Asia"
Following his studies of Geography and Climatology in Iran, he got a stipend in the Institute of Geography and Regional Research in 2013. His thesis topic required advanced skills also in Meteorology, so he asked Prof. Haimberger to supervise his thesis together with Prof. Samimi (Univ. Bayreuth). With only very modest funding, he managed to publish two papers on
Climatology of dust distribution over West Asia from homogenized remote sensing data
Sensitivity of WRF-chem predictions to dust source function specification in West Asia
a third paper has been submitted. He will continue his research at our institute in the months to come and we wish him all the best for his future.
