After the occurrence of two earthquakes of approximate magnitudes 4 on the Richter scale, that shook Austria on 20/09 and 2/10 2013, the IMGW department installed three seismic stations in the epicentral area. The epicenter was located near the town of Ebreichsdorf, about 30 km south of Vienna.
Earthquakes of this magnitude are a rare occurrence, and the deployed instruments are intended to record the aftershocks with the aim of refining the knowledge on the source location. The stand-alone seismic stations in the field are operating since October 3rd.
