Dies Academicus 2016 - "Promotio sub auspiciis Praesidentis"

15.03.2016

On 11 March 2016, the University of Vienna celebrated the 651th anniversary of its foundation with the Dies Academicus. In a "Promotio sub auspiciis" the President of Austria, Dr. Heinz Fischer, presented five alumni of the University - among them meteorologist Lukas Strauss - with the rings of honour of the Republic.

Lukas Strauss graduated in Physics from the Vienna University of Technology in 2009. His interest in atmospheric physics led him to pursue a doctorate in Meteorology at the University of Vienna. For his doctoral thesis, Lukas conducted research on atmospheric gravity waves and associated turbulent phenomena in the lee of mountain ridges.

Congratulations!
