To investigate an earthquake series in the Southern Vienna Basin, she applied relative earthquake localization and studied the interaction between single events.  Moreover, she made methodical investigations for earthquake localization using depth phases and studied their wave propagation in the surrounding regions in order to improve the depth resolution for the events. In four publications and through presentations at many conferences, her work was brought to a broad audience.

As native Viennese, Dr. Maria-Theresia Apoloner first obtained anengineering degree (Geodesy/Geomatic), followed by an Master course in Geodesy and Geophysics that she completed in 2011. During her PhD time she did substantial contributions for building up and run the instrument pool of the seismology group, particularly for the real-time telemetric communication system between the seismic receivers and the data center of the institute. She was part on many field campaigns and developed to an important contact person in the group for many concerns.
