Our institute takes part in building the Copernicus Climate Change Service

20.12.2018

After a successful tender for an ITT called "C3S C311c Support for climate reanalysis including satellite data rescue Lot 2: Historic upper-air data" a team of six scientists from our institute (which has the lead), from Uni Bern and the Russian Hydrometeorological Centre (RIHMI) will bring the global historic upper air data set into a shape that makes it much easier accessible for climate scientists and other stakeholders.

The data set is needed for reanalysis purposes, but also for various diagnostics on climate change.  In addition to a convenient format that includes station metadata, it will contain homogeneity adjustments for temperature, humidity and wind. The data set will eventually become available via the Copernicus Climate Data Store https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu
