Master Meteorology

Based on a broad meteorological training acquired in a Bachelor program the students of the Master program in meteorology at the University of Vienna deepen their knowledge in the field. Students get familiar with autonomous scientific working and participate actively in current meteorological research. They get qualified to critically evaluate meteorological and climatological data and scientific papers. The master program deepens the way of analytical and logical thinking and enables students to apply relevant physical theories and physical measuring methods in the field. It imparts knowledge of current environmental and climatological processes and risks.

Graduates of the Master program are well prepared for the needs of national and international meteorological services as well as for pure and application-oriented research on international level. General job opportunities beyond the field of meteorology arise due to intensive dealing with electronic data processing and training of both analytical and logical thinking.
